Phlebotomy Technician

Students will gain essential skills in collecting blood, urine, and other specimens, as well as preparing samples for medical and clinical testing. Phlebotomy technicians play a vital role in healthcare, serving as critical team members in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, physician offices, and donor centers. A day in the career of a phlebotomy technician may include such tasks as the following:

Draw blood from patients and blood donors

Explain blood-drawing procedure to patients and answer questions

Verify patient/donor identity
-
Maintain medical equipment such as needles, test tubes and blood vials
-
Performs basic Point of Care testing, such as Urinalysis and blood glucose levels

Prepare blood, urine and other specimens for testing
-
Works in collaboration with other healthcare team members
Course Objectives:
Receive hands-on training in venipuncture, capillary draws, heel sticks, and non-blood specimens. Topics covered include anatomy of the circulatory system, medical terminology, quality assurance, HIPAA, and infection control. Price includes book, certification prep material, lab supplies, and CPR certification.

Course Hours & Times:
This class meets twice per week for 5 weeks. Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30pm-7:30pm
Enrollment Requirements:
Must be 17 years of age or older
GED, High School Diploma, or High School Senior

This class meets once per week for 7 weeks. Wednesdays 5:30pm-7:00pm

The AHA’s BLS Course provides the foundation for saving lives from cardiac arrest. It teaches single and 2-rescuer along with team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics with hands on practice session.

AHA HEARTSAVER CPR AED

The AHA's Heartsaver CPR AED Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide CPR and the use of the automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
AHA HEARTSAVER FIRST AID
3 hours | $60
The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide first aid in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

AHA PEDIATRIC HEARTSAVER FIRST AID CPR AED
7 hours | $125
The AHA's Pediatric Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) on children in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

Payment plan consists of biweekly equal payments invoiced to student. Orphic will not run a credit check.
Orphic does not charge an interest rate but tuition must be paid in full prior to graduation.
